Sophie Lane Fox Garden Design

growing beautiful gardens

“I am delighted to recommend Sophie, an exemplary student presenting creative planting designs in plenty of time to plan and plant them in the best seasons.”

Andrew Fisher Tomlin, London College of Garden Design

Sophie Lane Fox came to garden design after selling her previous business, A Little Bit Food Co., a sauce and dressing company born from a love of growing fresh herbs.

She has studied at The English Gardening School at the Chelsea Physic Garden, where she received The Essential Garden Design, Good Gardening and Advanced Good Gardening Diplomas. She is also the recipient of a Planting Design Diploma from the London College of Garden Design based at The Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew.

Training feedback…

“Sophie graduated with distinction from the English Gardening School. The courses attended are very thorough, requiring a great deal of research and plant knowledge, technical design and drawing ability, specification and costing. Sophie has emerged as one of our top graduates and gives her full attention to anything she undertakes. In one advanced project her designs and planting were chosen to be  carried out and planted in A high profile garden regularly open to the public.”

Rosemary Alexander, The English Gardening School

Sophie comes from a family of passionate gardeners including her late father, Martin Lane Fox, who was an acclaimed Landscape Gardener and Vice Chairman of the RHS.

With an innate understanding of how a garden should speak to the needs of both its environment and those that inhabit it, Sophie brings a lifetime of hands-on expertise to any project that she undertakes, no matter how large or small.  She is driven by the urge to create soft, organic spaces that are, quite simply, lovely places to be.

‘Nature is essential to our mental health’, says Sophie, whose passion for being outside lies at the very heart of her business.  Whether she is designing a healing space for veterans suffering from PTSD or creating a backdrop of tranquility in a private home, her ethos remains the same.  ‘I want to create beautiful spaces that feed the soul.  To me, there’s no greater joy than that.’

“I have no hesitation at all in recommending Sophie.”
